PA Bankers honored as “Hometown Hero”

Hundreds of women at the Women in Banking conference donated new and gently used shoes and purses to charity.

Put on by the Pennsylvania Banker’s Association, more than 350 women attended the sixth annual conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.

The purses and shoes will go to the Dress for Success of South Central Pennsylvania.

In Cumberland County today, The Pennsylvania Bankers Association and Orrstown Bank visited Harrisburg Academy kindergarten students. The goal, promote financial literacy and teach children to save.

Governor pushes workforce development, but some worry about cost

Investing in Pennsylvania’s workforce is a big push by Governor Tom Wolf. The governor spent the day taking a look at the needs of one Lancaster County based company as he pushed his new workforce initiatives.

However, some are worried about how much these new programs will cost.

“These are great jobs that can really lift these families up,” said Mike Shirk, CEO of High Companies.

Mid Penn Bank and The Peyton Walker Foundation today announced the creation of a new life-saving initiative to combat Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) – one of the leading causes of death among Americans.

Through the Foundation, Mid Penn will invest in training and certification of its employees in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and First Aid.
