Whitaker Center closes temporarily as precaution for COVID-19 pandemic.

Dear Whitaker Center Members, Patrons, Supporters and the Greater Community:

For more than twenty years, it has been the mission of Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts to open our doors, welcome guests of all ages and serve as the center for scientific, artistic, cultural and educational activities to enhance the region’s quality of life and economic vitality. Beyond our mission, however, we also have a responsibility to take appropriate measures to protect the health of our guests, families, staff, volunteers, faculty and community. For this reason and in response to the recent events, we have decided it is prudent that we temporarily close to the public effective immediately with the goal of reopening on Friday, March 20, 2020.

During the closure, administrative offices and full-time staff will be onsite and working remotely. Our priorities during this time include:

  • Deep cleaning of exhibits and interactive displays and all public spaces
  • Repairs and improvements to exhibits
  • Educational curriculum and program development
  • Membership program development
  • Performance space improvements

Lastly, on behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of Whitaker, we want to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the many talented public servants, doctors, nurses, medical professionals and emergency services personnel who are working tirelessly to address this matter of public health. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Please continue to monitor www.whitakercenter.org and social media for updates.

Thank you,

Ted Black
