High Foundation supports $100K in grants for Lancaster’s “Love Your Block.”

Lancaster has received more than $100,000 in grants.

The biggest grant, $76,500, will go a program that helps residents find housing after being displaced in emergencies.

The city’s Love Your Block campaign now has $30,000 more to continue projects, such as one that included a mural at South End Park.

The Neighborhood Leaders Academy was given $20,000. The program will teach McCaskey High School students about government and the resources available for projects in their own neighborhoods.

“It’s great to just engage people while they’re young, so that it sort of just spurs a lifetime of community engagement,” said Amber Strazzo, the mayor’s communications manager.

Forty students are signed up for the six-month program, which is set to begin next week.

The grants were awarded by the Lancaster Community Foundation and the High Foundation.
